place outside Houston TX - Where I spent
a lot of summers in the surreal metropolitan burbs |

Grandparents place in the Houston suburb of Missour
City TX. My Grandfather had an awesome garden of
corn, bell peppers, tomatos, carrots, lettuce, strawberries,
cucumbers, mint and i forget what else. Also learned
to fish in the small ponds & lakes along the golf
courses of the sprawling "Quail Valley" subdivision.

Montessori Elementary School -
former site of the school when I was in 4th to 7th grade |

The
Montessori School was situated on a small lake (lake
La'rue). It was a perfect setting for a non-standard
school cirriculum.
When
i went there the area around it was still undeveloped
- for biology class and sometimes even recess we would
take long walks in the deep woods, collecting nature
specimens and learning to love, respect and be ever-curious
about nature!

| Montessori
Elementary School - Earlier site on State
street, about 2 blocks from the old Capris theater. |

The
late 1970's 'original' Jackson Ms Montessori was incredibly
cool. Learn at your own pace. they taught science, geometry,
art,
foreign laguage and music in 1st grade. In your best
subjects you could skip grades. 1st thru 3rd grade was
at this location on State street,
Right where the arrow points, I can remember a project
to dig our way out of school with a secret tunnel underneath
the neighborhood.
I also remember edging across a small legde on the side
of the building with 3 friends pretending we were in
a dog's mouth.
Cathy Wiesman was the principal. Resolution 1 pixel

W.C. Don's, a Jackson Tradition? - Holy
Sheite! Too many great shows here to remember 1/2 of them
|

Geez ... can someone compile me a list of the great
bands that have played in this shit-hole?
It's actually amazing, this place should be a historical
landmark.

| Sandy's
'Living room' coffee house - downtown across
the tracks from the long abandoned King Edward's hotel |

This coffee house had a great open patio in the back
with a large mural by local artist patrick gronnigan.
The bridge to the right is where I played sax most nights
of the week. On the far right is The King Edward's hotel,
a large
abandoned building, vacant since the 1960's or so. Resolution
